Summary

There are red sheep and blue sheep, wind sheep and wave sheep, scared sheep and brave sheep, but where is the green sheep? The search is on in this cozy, sheep-filled story from beloved author Mem Fox and popular Australian cartoonist Judy Horacek。 Complete with sleepy rhymes and bright illustrations, this book is sure to delight children of all ages, from the very young to those just beginning to read。 Wonderful characters and wonderfully illustrated。 2005 Children's Book of the Year for Early Childhood。 。 Review Everybody loves sheep, and this flock cunningly portrays concepts in a fun and clever manner。 We are first introduced to the blue sheep and the red sheep。 Sheep in various activities are presented but one sheep is missing--the green sheep。 Tanning sheep, diving sheep--even Gene Kelly in sheep's clothing makes an appearance dancing and singing in the rain。 (Twenty-first century children will most likely not understand that allusion, but it is a great page!) Horacek's playful pen and watercolor images convey Fox's text with practical simplicity and friendly colors with just the right amount of white space on each spread。 A few opposites are included along with an assortment of colorful and colorless sheep engaged in different activities。 Can you find the reflective sheep? But what about that elusive green sheep? By the end of the book you will find out。 Reviewer: Elizabeth Young, Children's Literature - Where is the Green Sheep? by Mem Fox。

Mem Fox is amazing。 She just knows how to make young ones love reading。 Great repetition, comparison, suspense, humor。 Brava!

Rachael Terry

Each page describes a sheep (tall sheep, red sheep) and we are looking for the green sheep。 Could be a good flannel board。

Read this for the first time at a baby library rhyme time whatsit thing you do when you have a baby。。。 my baby was only a few months old。 While reading it aloud with all the other mothers, i was thinking, I don’t give a damn about your freaking green sheep。 Why are we looking for it? Why is it important? Holy damn this is repetitive。 Fast forward 4 ✨years✨ and my son now loves it。 🤷🏼‍♀️ Still。 I refuse to have this stupid book in my house lol

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 My first book of 2021。 A great kids classic。 Cute illustrations and use of rhyme and repetition。 The pictures made it easy to predict what the rhymes were going to be。 I have to admit, it felt a bit long winded before finally getting to the end。 I have also heard complaints that the green sheep was fast asleep at the end, while there was already another earlier sheep in bed, though strictly speaking, the bed sheep technically wasn't sleeping。 This is definitely a book I'll read to my kids one da My first book of 2021。 A great kids classic。 Cute illustrations and use of rhyme and repetition。 The pictures made it easy to predict what the rhymes were going to be。 I have to admit, it felt a bit long winded before finally getting to the end。 I have also heard complaints that the green sheep was fast asleep at the end, while there was already another earlier sheep in bed, though strictly speaking, the bed sheep technically wasn't sleeping。 This is definitely a book I'll read to my kids one day, because it is fun and jolly! 。。。more

This is one of our favorite bedtime books ever。 I fell in love with Men Fox because of this book。 It is sing-song, sweet and educational story for toddlers but still can keep the attention of older readers too。 Enjoy!

Young children particularly like the rhyming and opposites in speech per double page spread outs。 The pictures are simplistic and it's great for teaching prepositions。。。 under, over, behind, in front of。 A favourite asked for over and over again。 And sometimes sold with a toy green sheep as well。 Great for dramatisation in a very easy way Young children particularly like the rhyming and opposites in speech per double page spread outs。 The pictures are simplistic and it's great for teaching prepositions。。。 under, over, behind, in front of。 A favourite asked for over and over again。 And sometimes sold with a toy green sheep as well。 Great for dramatisation in a very easy way 。。。more

The kids loved this book whilst growing up。 It has a nice rhythm to it when reading。

In this book they are looking for the green sheep the entire time。 They run into every sheep like the blue sheep, red sheep, Bath sheep, swing sheep, band sheep, and the rain sheep and more。 They finally find the green sheep at the end of the story sleeping。 It was an okay book and very fast read but was suspenseful to find out where the green sheep was。 It made you definitely want to continue reading to find out where the green sheep was hiding。 I would put this in my classroom because even tho In this book they are looking for the green sheep the entire time。 They run into every sheep like the blue sheep, red sheep, Bath sheep, swing sheep, band sheep, and the rain sheep and more。 They finally find the green sheep at the end of the story sleeping。 It was an okay book and very fast read but was suspenseful to find out where the green sheep was。 It made you definitely want to continue reading to find out where the green sheep was hiding。 I would put this in my classroom because even though it is a quick read it is interesting。 。。。more

My daughter and I love looking at all the different kinds of sheep。 There is a page spread near the end, which includes some quirky sheep to look at and identify。 My daughter and I are particularly fond of the Ned Kelly sheep on that page。

Sam

My 1 year old son loves this book。 He is engaged from start to finish。

Super cute, bub love it。 The rhymes are fun and spoiler, the green sheep is asleep in the end so it's a great night time book。 A couple of punny names pop up with made the adults smile while reading it。 Super cute, bub love it。 The rhymes are fun and spoiler, the green sheep is asleep in the end so it's a great night time book。 A couple of punny names pop up with made the adults smile while reading it。 。。。more

A delightful romp of a book, but the translation is too literal and lacks the joy of the original work。

It’s easy to find all different types of sheep-blue, red, wide, thin。 In the bath, in the bed。 But the green sheep is much more elusive! Fun for teaching opposites for preschoolers-my kids loved finishing the pairs and repeating the “where is the green sheep” phrase。 Young toddlers will love this one as well!

Ashley Zuniga

The book is pretty simple。 There is not too harsh of words in it。 The illustrations are detailed。

Kierra Davis

It’s a lovely book to read to children。 It’s short and it will children stay engaged。 I love the references between opposites。

Where is the green ?, is one of my favorite books to read to children。 I love this book because it talks about different colors in a hilarious way for children to enjoy。 Also this book has great vocabulary to discuss with the children throughout the read like for example, near and far。

Vanessa

This book is more for a toddler class。 Has Some rhyme。 Teaches the children the different colors and what type of animal it is。

Jordan Ledford
